Betta Splendens Empty Betta Splendens

Just wondering if a betta would be okay in a fluval edge tank.I've read some conflicting reports online. From what I read they need to breathe from the surface. However, the edge only has a small 4x4" access to air. Since the water fills all the way to the top the betta will get stressed and not find the surface. However i've also read the betta is not a stupid fish and will easily find the surface and will have no problems?Another problem i've read about is the flow rate is the current to strong for a betta?can it be adjusted?if anyone keeps or have tried to keep betta's i would be grateful for any advice.

I've kept bettas in both the 23l and the 46l and they have no problem in finding the opening.
