Edge Pump Running Slowly

Hi all,

I've noticed this morning that the pump in my edge is not pumping much water. The small waterfall that is usually seen at the filter lip has been reduced to a trickle (it's adjusted for full flow). Do these pumps have problems with delivery? It's not any noisier than usual and doesn't seem to be straining.
Any ideas?

OK, once again answering my own question.
I had bought a foam "sock" for the intake tube, and althought it didn't look that bad once it was removed and cleaned it cured the problem completely.
