Amano Design Empty Amano Design

I am interested in changing the layout of my edge to the Amano natural tank design. Any tips or suggestions? Now, I have a dark but little too multicolored gravel that I want to put a layer or sand on, a piece of driftwood and some plants. Can I put a new layer of gravel on? Any tips or picture are appreciated! Surprised
