Fluval Pressurised CO2 Kit (88g)
Earlier this year Fluval ventured into the world of CO2 in what seemed like a natural progression bearing in mind their expansion with their nano-tank range.
The pressurised CO2 kit is a must for the budding aquatic plant enthusiast. It's small, well designed and incredibly easy to set up.
In the kit you have a regulator, a ceramic diffuser, a plastic bubble counter, a length of air/CO2 line, one disposable 88g CO2 cartridge and a cartridge stand.
Setting up is simple; the CO2 cartridge screws into the regulator (this needs to be done pretty quickly and you need to ensure it's a tight fit otherwise most of the CO2 is released!). From the regulator, a length of CO2 line is attached to the bubble counter (on the needle side). Another length of CO2 line is then used to attach the bubble counter to the ceramic diffuser and the diffuser is placed in the tank. The bubble counter can either hang on the side of the aquarium or be stuck on using a sucker. Simples!
Tuning the CO2 is a dream with a smooth needle valve on the regulator.
One thing that could be improved on is the length of CO2 line - it just isn't long enough, especially if you want to hide the cartridge, regulator and bubble counter away in a stand. The only other con is that the only cartridges that can be used with the regulators are those from Fluval. That said, I'm hoping to get at least a month per cartridge at a flow rate of 1bps.
All in all, a really impressive and exciting bit of kit for the nano owner and I'm really looking forward to seeing results on the Fluval Edge 46l.
