TIMER for the LIGHTS Empty TIMER for the LIGHTS

Post  sailor7x Tue May 01, 2012 8:57 pm

I am considering purchasing an 46L EDGE and have questions about the lighting.

Is it on an internal timer included with the EDGE?

Do the lights go from day to night automatically?

Can I set it up for a certain amount of "daylight" and then "night".

I am away 3 days at a time and need a tank that can be on "autopilot" as far as lighting is concerned.

Thanks for the help.

There is no timer.

I use a regular socket timer for the main lights. The blue LEDs are nice at night, but not a necessity.

I use these timers form Argos on my tanks (including a 23L Edge) ... http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9822911/c_1/1|category_root|Garden+and+DIY|14418702/c_2/2|14418702|Home+security|14418707/c_3/3|cat_14418707|Timers|14418710.htm

The instruction manual that comes with them is about as clear as muddy water, but once you figure out how to set them correctly they work fine. If you do buy them and have operational issues please post back here and I'll try to help.

Ricky.

I modified my Fluval Edge and disconnect the power switch in the Fluval edge and connected it to 3 wires.....

Then i bought an electronic timer with 2 relais in it and which could be switched independently.

Now my timer is connected to power and has also a battery included in case the power gets off so the clock will continue ticking....

Now i set my timer to the following:
at 05.00 blue lights get on
at 07.00 white lights get on
at 22.00 blue lights get on
at 01:00 all lights are off

nice isn't it and all automatically :-)
